SPAN 300: Pre-Capstone Spanish Majors
Course Description: Directed toward Spanish majors preparing for their Capstone experience, this 2 unit course aims to guide the student in the process of completing a capstone proposal and initiating the preliminary steps toward the graduation portfolio. The portfolio provides evidence that a student is making satisfactory progress toward meeting the Core requirements and Major Learning Outcomes (MLOs) for the Spanish B.A.
Pre-Capstone Spanish Majors: This course covers MLO 6-Research and Technology. During this course Dr. Gómez, guided us towards our Capstone Project and my classmates served as a support system. Picking a topic for our Capstone was hard at first because I didn’t know how to look for resources or who to go to but thanks to Dr. Gómez and the resources he provided us, we were able to do it. Without this class, I would’ve been so lost because it not only helped me for the Capstone topic but for other classes as well. We had a couple of presenters during the semester. The most important one was the librarian who helped us with resources and how to look for them and that the librarians are always available for help and if we can’t find something in the library we can borrow it from another CSU library. I went a couple of times and they are so patient and helpful. Next semester I will probably be going to see them as well. Once I picked my topic, I had to pick a research question or two (something I wanted to know about my theme and why it mattered), then get it approved by an advisor. I choose Dr. Urioste as my advisor for my Capstone Project and possibly Profesora Fernández.
